Problems with pulling info from WLC 5520

Hi.

I have successfully gotten the CSPC to communicate and pull data from routers and switches in our environment up to the portal.

However, I have been unable to get the collector to pull anything from our 5520 wireless lan controller. I have tried snmpv2 and v3 with the same result. I can ping the controller from the CSPC.

The error I get is "Device Unreachable or Incorrect SNMP Credentials."

I know the SNMPv3 user is setup correctly on the WLC because we use Prime with the same credentials and are able to connect just fine

Any ideas?

Thanks

Fred

Re: Problems with pulling info from WLC 5520

Is there a firewall or ACL in the path between CSPC & the WLC?

Re: Problems with pulling info from WLC 5520

Hey antnsgl,

I see in post https://community.cisco.com/t5/smart-net-total-care-portal-and/snmp-walk/m-p/3901675#M11687 that you are trying to access root for snmpwalk command.  That will assist with your issue here to troubleshoot polling the WLC 5520.

First, we need to get into root access.  Based on the other post "The only account I have for the collector is the initial one I setup when installing the collector.", im guessing you have the 'admin' login for the CLI of the collector correct?  If so, we can run 'pwdreset collectorlogin 90' and 'pwdreset root 90' from the admin access.  These two commands will generate passwords for the respective logins.  Please save these in your records for future use.

Once the passwords are created, then try running the snmpwalk commands seen below.

SNMPv2c:
snmpwalk -v 2c -c ROCommunityString DeviceIPAddress

SNMPv3:
snmpwalk -v 3 -u Username -l SecurityLevel (AuthPriv/AuthNoPriv) -a AuthProtocol (SHA/MD5) -A AuthPasswd -x EncryptionProtocol (DES/AES) -X EncryptionPasswd DeviceIPAddress

Thanks,
Justin

Thanks, Justin.

I will give that a try and let you know the results.

Hi.

I have run the snmpwalk successfully from the collector to the WLC. I get an error that says "No response from x.x.x.x"

I enabled the debugs on the WLC and I can see the packets from the collector, here is the conversation:

Re: Problems with pulling info from WLC 5520

There is not but there must have been something going on with routing. I ended up changing the IP of the collector to reside on the same subnet as the WLC and everything started working.

Thanks for your help.
