SDA setup using Cisco 9K switches / wireless

Hi,

Need suggestion regarding SDA setup for wireless using the latest 9K series catalyst switches for SDA deployment.

What is the recommendation to setup SDA specifically for WLAN out of following options:

1. Using cisco 9300 / 9500 as border devices and acting as WLC's for that specific sites

2. Using centralized 5520 / 9800 WLC's for the wireless.

Of course DNAc would be needed for the SDA setup.

But which option is the better one if you have more than 80-90 sites with multiple sizes (small, medium, large), where large sites would have more than 200 AP's at single location.

And whether it is possible to implement SDA using centralized WLC's rather than having distributed WLC's running on the 9300 / 9500 switches?

Yogesh,

If you are building a multi-site SD-Access design with SD-Access Wireless at each site, then each site must have a local WLC presence of some kind at that site , and this can be an appliance , VM or embedded in the Cat 9K. A centralized WLC cannot control the APs in more than one SD-Access site.

An Embedded Wireless Controller can support a maximum of 200 APs, so if a site has more than 200 APs or the potential to grow to more than that, then the site needs to have an appliance or VM.

SD-Access with Wireless required some basic requirement like below :

if this RTT is more as per your requirement, then you need to breakout locally, Fabirc in box  with Cat 9K ( Look at the License requirement)

supported model as below :
