TCP (Transit Control Plane) : supported platforms?

Hi,

What are the supported platforms for SDA transit – TCP node?

(Documentation talks about supported Borders, Control Plane, but not Transit Control Plane specific.)

To my opinion any 9300 will do (why not 9200?) or ISR1000v. As long as it supports LISP, right?

Hi,

Yes, scale depends on number of prefixes coming from sites (and being redistributed from one site to the other e.g. to reach datacenter / generally everything behind internal borders).

Still, Transit CP (as well as CP) generally requires both: LISP and BGP functionality. BGP is currently not supported on Catalyst 9200 series. Also, Catalyst 9200 series is not mentioned as supported on the compatibility matrix for Control Node functionality:

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/solutions/enterprise-networks/software-defined-access/compatibility-matrix.html

Best regards,

Mariusz

Hi,

Yes, that is correct - Transit Control Plane is Control Plane node so the same rules applies (you may want to take a closer look at scale numbers, depending on the use-case / design to assure it will be able to correctly support your network design + assure you have redundancy in case of any failure scenario).

Mariusz

Thank you already for this!

To scale this device properly we only need to think about the total amount of subnets right?

If you design your SDA fabric sites with only a few subnets per site. I assume even the smallest platform will support large deployments?

9200 supports 4k routes…

Thank you!
