Why proxy-itr instead of just itr

Hello
Could anyone please explain the reason why every edge router in SDA is configured with "proxy-itr <self-rloc-ip>" instead of just "itr"?

This is needed by dhcp relay as dhcp relay emits vxlan traffic via lisp tunnel without encap check and proxy itr is used to bypass source check upon encap in data plane
