Catalyst C9300 Is there a way to alias the switch name? Don't have ISE

yes you can do as many as alias in hostfile (its does not matter) - if you do not like to change the hostname of the switch,

Instead or renaming the hostname of the switch. We're looking to give it alias. Hopefully that response was better. 

Instead of updating PROD Catalyst C9300 hostname ACBDEF. Is doing a alias hostname 123456 possible? 

how are you resolving ABCDEF ? via DNS, then add one more DNS Entry against IP

make DNS Entry what ever you like, changing hostname not cause any network outage for your informatiin.

Unfortunately, we're not using DNS. 

how do you expect resolution take place (until you going to tell me changing host files ?)
