Cisco UCS Blade Chassis_128Gbps QSFP for FC SAN

Hi There,

We are working on an internal project to host VMware ESXi workloads and we are planning to deploy Gen7 SAN fabric for x86 Compute Chassis.

Would like to know if Cisco UCS Blade chassis has 128Gbps QSFP FC ports and Cisco MDS has QSFP modules in port blades.

We prefers to go with 128Gbps QSFP (4x32Gbps) connectivity to avoid cabling mess primarily.

Sincerely,

Dhakshinamoorthy B

Your transceiver options are listed in 6400 series spec sheet: https://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/products/collateral/servers-unified-computing/ucs-b-series-blade-servers/6400-specsheet.pdf

I don't currently see references on the FI side for specs higher than 32Gb FC, but that may change.

https://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/products/collateral/storage-networking/mds-9700-series-multilayer-directors/brochure-c02-736646.pdf references 64Gb FC Ready, so I would anticipate eventually seeing transceivers for 64Gb, usually in conjunction with firmware version supporting those.

Thanks,

Kirk...
