Fabric Segmentation

Hi,

Can someone tell me what is Fabric Segmentation. I want a detailed description about this. If you have any documents to refer, Please do attach that.

Segmentation can happen in a fabric for various reasons.

Essentially, it is when the fabric divides itself.

Reasons this could happen.

- If you have dupicate FCDomain details

- Two prinicipal switches

- TOV mismatch -- BIG ONE

Link failing/flapping would cause a segmentation and perseive as a segmentation fault.  Now that you have a failed link between your fabric switches, you will then have two different fcdomains and then two principal switches.

- link could be FCIP, ISL, etc..
