Dears,

Customer is asking for FCoE capability with Vxlan and I m proposing a Nexus 9300,switch which will act as a Core switch and also be configured for FCoE connection   does these switches supports a FCoE which is supported by nexus 7700 series to connect from end host to the storage device.

I am new to storage networking, i m not aware  FCoe is same as FCoe-NPV, hence i tried to read but still not clear and also the configuration document for nexus 7700 is different than for nexus 9300

Nexus 9K support some models as i have deployed some -FX model support FCoE (Nexus 5K are widely used as per my experience in real world.)

Below models and list support for FCoE

How to Ask The Cisco Community for Help

Dear balaji,

I have chosen N9K-C9336C-FX2-B2 switch as a core switch, hence according to the data sheet it is not supported, please correct me ??

what i read is below, it performs a write erase mean it will erase all data, if my core is configured with VPC and routing protocols and running then all things will be erased, this is what i have confusion fcoe is different than a fcoe- Npv

Enable FCoE and then enable NPV—This method requires that you enable FCoE first using the feature fcoe command and then you enable NPV by using the feature npv command. When FCoE is enabled, the default mode of operation is FC switching and when you enable NPV, the mode changes to NPV mode. Switching to NPV mode automatically performs a write erase and reloads the system. After the reload, the system comes up in NPV mode. To exit NPV mode and return to FC switching mode, enter the no feature npv command. Exiting NPV mode also triggers a write erase and a switch reload. This method requires the Storage Protocols Services Package (FC_FEATURES_PKG) license
