If we will go for 16 GB switch, will it support with existing Cisco MDS 9509? If yes then HBA on blade should be of 16 GB.

Hi Ashish,

You can definitely establish an EISL between a 9500 and a 16G FC capable switch, as long as the link operates at 8Gbps (or some common denominator between the two).

Ideally, you want to avoid oversubscription so keep that in mind if you end up trying to push 16Gbps (e.g. F port connected to a Storage) of traffic across an 8Gbps link (ISL between the 9500 and your 16G switch).

As a general recommendation, any individual member of an ISL (part of a port-channel or not) should have a speed >= the speed of the fastest F port.

Last but not least, remember that the MDS 9500 will reach its End of Life in 2022.

I hope this helps.
