NPIV on MDS 1948S and 9396S

On the cisco 9000 series, (specifically the 9148S and 9396S) does anyone know the maximum number of visualised N ports that you can sit behind an interface when NPIV is enabled?

Also what the the default max value is when the "switchport max-npiv-limit" limit isnt set?

I do know the command "switchport max-npiv-limit" seems to accept 1-256 on the 1948S however just wondering if anyone has hit any other limits or issues.

We will looking visualise 16 blades (behind HP C7000 enclosure interconnects) on some ports along with vm servers behind esxi hosts on other.

Thank you,

  Alex

Hi,
The limit is 256 per port up to a max of 1000 logins per switch.

Please reference the configuration limits document for MDS:

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/datacenter/mds9000/sw/8_x/config/config_limits/cisco_mds9000_config_limits_8x.html
