Best setup with 3 switches (2 in a stack)

I have 2 x SG500 52 port switches in a stack in my networking equipment room. This room is where all of my PC's plug into along with my internet connection & firewall equipment. My server equipment is in another part of the building with a 24 port SG500 and will be linked back to the stack via fiber. I will have some VLANs and be doing some VLAN routing so my plan was this. I was going to set the stack switch with an IP and have this act as my "core" switch. This switch would be put in L3 mode and do the routing amongst VLANs. The remote 24 port SG500 with the server equipment I was going to make a L2 switch. Would that be best? Or should I make the remote switch L3 but define no IP interfaces and set a default route to my core switch?

Hello,

I think the first option is better, no need to have two switches on later 3 on the same network as there is no real benefit.

The idea of having the two "core" switches on stack is very good so that you can manage everything from a single IP address.
