Connect two switch stacks without stacking....

OK, so we have an SG500 stack and another SG500XG stack, we would like to connect the two stacks together using a Direct Attach Cable (which we have also used to create the stacks).

Is it possible to attach the two stacks together in this way without the two stacks becoming one stack? (we have reasons we don't want one big stack)

Hopefully that makes sense?  Any insights appreciated.

Hello craigdenton,

You don't really need to worry about both stacks becoming one, you can only stack devices of the same model, SG500 with SG500 and SG500XG with SG500XG, there is no risk of them becoming one big stack if connect them using either DAC or UTP since it is not supported.
