We have a MDF closet that has a SG500X-24P switch that has 4 SFP-10G-SR modules in XG1-XG4. Then we have 4 IDF closets that each have a SG500X-24P switch in them with 1 SFP-10G-SR module. There is a fiber line going from each of the IDF closets back to the MDF closet. We are trying to establish a 10GB uplink between the IDF closets back to the MDF closet. However, we can't get the uplinks to work on 10GB. It'll light up but the switches won't see each other in LLDP or CDP and in the log it'll show the port as going up and down repeatedly or once in awhile show the gbic as being removed even though it isn't touched. We have even tried uplinking the switches together physically located on top of each other with just patch cords.
We were able to get one of the SG500X-24P switches to uplink at 10GB with an Aruba 2930F just fine .
If we set the XG port to 1G, then the port will work and give us a steady uplink betwen two SG500X-24P switches.
We mostly use HP/Aruba stuff but have a client that we do work for that has cisco switches and we are trying to make this work so they have a 10GB uplink to the IDF closets.
Any help would be appreciated.
