Hi all,
I'm having an issue with getting wake on LAN working and am hoping someone can help me out.
Our network is comprised of a number of Cisco SG500-52 switches on which we have configured port security to use MAC address bypass and RADIUS. The management have now asked us to implement a system where by users can connect remotely to their computers in the office. They also state that the user needs to be able to power on the machine remotely if it is not on. I'm thinking Wake on LAN is the best option here.
In my LAB setup this worked perfectly but in the production environment were are unable to get the machine to start. Working through the issue, i can see that the port to which the test machine is connected goes into an unauthorised state when the machine is powered off so i'm guessing this is preventing the NIC from receiving the "Magic Packet". Is there an additional setting i need to make on the switch to allow it to pass WoL traffic to the PCs when the port is in an unauthorised state?
Thanks in advanced.
Andrew
