12.2(18)SXF5 no VLAN present in Config

Good Morning,

We use WS-C6513 Sup720 with IOS release 12.2(18)SXF5.

Since we migrated no VLAN's (exept interface VLan's) are shown in running-config.

They are present and can be configured (e.g. named), but they don't show up in a show running-config command.

Is it a bug, or a feature?

Hi,

Usually changing the VTP mode to "transparent" makes your vlans and vtp config visible in the running-config.

Hope it helps!

Hi Sebastian,

Can you confirm if you see all vlans in "sh vlan" command?

Also can you confirm how you created those vlans? Is it via going to vlan database mode or via global config mode?

Ankur

Hi Ankur,

yes i can confirm, that all vlans show up (even with their configured ASCII-Names) in a "sh vlan" command.

I created them via config mode. After i found out, about the issue i tried to assign some vlans via vl database, but it seem that this database is now an undocumented feature.

"c6513xyz#vlan ?

% Unrecognized command

c6513xyz#vlan

"

But if u issue the command "vl dat" see this

"

c6513xyz#vlan dat

% Warning: It is recommended to configure VLAN from config mode,

as VLAN database mode is being deprecated. Please consult user

documentation for configuring VTP/VLAN in config mode.

c6513xyz(vlan)#?

VLAN database editing buffer manipulation commands:

c6513xyz(vlan)#

"

regards,

Sebastian

hi Ramin,

thx...

It's an explanation, but no real solution...

I want my VLAN's appear even if I'm in VTP server mode.

That is the answer and there is not a solution around it .
