1921 Router PoE enabling

Dear all,

I was enabling PoE on a 1921 router which has EHWIC-D-8ESG-P card. The running ios is "c1900-universalk9-mz.SPA.154-3.M5.bin".

I neither see any power enable command in the global nor I see anything under the interface which could enable the poe for the phone connected to it.

Is there anything else that I need to check? Please help

Thank you in advance.

Post the complete output to the command "sh inventory".
If there is no PoE daughter board and/or large power supply, then it's not going to work.

How do I know that the router has PoE daughter board and/or large power supply as I do not have physical access to the router.

Here is the output of show inventory:

NICL-C1921-CE8#sh inventory
NAME: "CISCO1921/K9", DESCR: "CISCO1921/K9 chassis, Hw Serial#: FGL161322TJ, Hw Revision: 1.0"
PID: CISCO1921/K9      , VID: V04 , SN: FGL161322TJ

NAME: "8 Port GE POE EHWIC Switch on Slot 0 SubSlot 1", DESCR: "8 Port GE POE EHWIC Switch"
PID: EHWIC-D-8ESG-P    , VID: V01 , SN: FOC21018GHG

What is the output to the command "sh inventory raw"?
If the router is meant to support PoE there should be a part called "PWR-1900-POE" (Table 12).
If not, you'll need to purchase this separately.

Actually this router is meant to test the EHWIC-D-8ESG-P card with PoE devices to be connected it. Good thing is it detects the card but when the time comes to test the PoE devices (currently two PoE phones connected) the ports are down/down. I was looking for poe enabling feature under the interface mode but I found nothing and it lead me to think that ios upgrade is required which I did but same result. Since the card is EHWIC-D-8ESG-P, i thought it takes power from the regular power supply.

The power supply is for a regular 1921.  The PoE "version" of the 1921 has a bigger power supply which this unit doesn't possess.

Yes, I figured it out after you advised. You have been very helpful.

I appreciate your help
