It could be originated by a corrupted image:

At the time of bootup, a router can detect that a Cisco IOS software image is corrupt, return the compressed image checksum is incorrect message, and attempt to reload. In this case, the event is reported as a software-forced crash.

This can be caused by a Cisco IOS software image that has actually been corrupted during transfer to the router. In this case, you can load a new image onto the router to resolve the issue. You can load a new image from Rommon (to enter to rommon, turn off the router, turn on again and press control + break or control + pause):

I remember it select the F0/0 or G0/0 interface by default, so you could connect your computer (where tftp is installed) there, PC must has an IP address on the same network that router's IP.
If you are going to upgrade the device you should verify first the hardware requirements in order to avoid any issues.
