We have seen a problem with a 2950-48 where a group of ports locks up. Usually seems to be port 38-48 or around there. Devices on those parts will not be able to pass any traffic (cannot be ping'd etc). If we move the devices to another port on same switch problem fixes, also a reboot clears it up. We have tried broadcast storm control, watched the counters carefully, watched spanning tree and cleaned up our configs but this still happens randomly. Any suggestions out there welcomed?

One more thing to add. It happends randomly on different switches, so unless by some weird string of fait I don't think it's hardware. Switches are running 12.1.22.EA6

You could try upgrading to 12.1.22 ea8a which is the latest version for these and see if that helps . We are running 12.1.22 ea6 on a lot of our 2950's and haven't seen the issue that you are seeing .
