On the Device Manager dashboard for a 3560X-24T-S there is a message in teh System Health section that states 'FAN FAULTY', with slashed red circle over the fan icon.

Upon hovring over graphic, I see the message:

FAN 1 is OK

FAN 2 is OK

FAN 3 is OK

FAN 4 is FAULTY

I beileve the accessible fans are fan 1 and 2, so I'm unsure what FAN  4 is,

Thanks,

John

Hi Johnb,

Sometimes a power supply will have in built fans. Check PS2. If you have a redundant power supply then one of the power supplies has a faulty fan and you will need to replace the faulty power supply.

Thanks

Dan

Hello, as Daniel noticed it should correspond to the internal FAN of power supply 2.

I think your tool is reporting FAN-3 and FAN-4 instead of FAN PS-1 and FAN PS-2. If you have an log in access to the switch, you can check directly it by entering =>

3560-X # show env fan

FAN 1 is OK

FAN 2 is OK

FAN PS-1 is OK

FAN PS-2 is ?

3750X rear view (but FAN 1 & 2 and PS 1 & 2 look similar for 3560X)

If the alarm is confirmed the appropiate actions need to be done :-)

Best regards.

Karim

Thank you for the replies:

I ran the cli as suggested and this is what came back:

FAN 1 is OK

FAN 2 is OK

FAN PS-1 is OK

FAN PS-2 is NOT PRESENT

This makes perfect sense as I am not running a redundant power supply.  What doesn't make sense is the 'FAN 4 is FAULTY which I see on the dashboard of the Device Manager.

Thanks,

John

Hi John,

So I think you are just hitting comsetic bug

CSCtn62121 - Cat3560X Device Manager shows Fan FAULTY if Fan PS is NOT PRESENT

===================================================

3560 switch's Device Manager shows Fan FAULTY on the Dashbord as follows;

FAN1 is OK

FAN2 is OK

FAN3 is OK

FAN4 is FAULTY

Conditions: FAN PS is not put in the chassis

#sh env all

FAN 1 is OK

FAN 2 is OK

FAN PS-1 is OK

FAN PS-2 is NOT PRESENT

Workaround: A cosmetic issue and there is no workaround

I have the same issue with my 3750x switches. All have 1 power supply and all show fan 4 faulty but only in the web interface. This is nothing to be concerned with.

Hi;

Yes for the 3750-X the same issue is referenced under bug CSCtl42016
