Sreekanth,

It is hard to tell. An "assert" is a general term in programming, and it is a verification deliberately inserted into code to verify for sanity and consistency of the internal variables - whether they are set, whether they contain sensible values, and so on. An "assert failure" means that such check at some point of the code was not successful - essentially indicating an error either in the code or in the data that are processed by the code - in both cases, a possible bug. Whether the code can recover from this failure cannot be said in general.

I strongly suggest upgrading your IOS to a newer version - your IOS is quite outdated - and repeating the procedure.

Best regards,

Peter

Thanks Peter for the swift reply.

Could you please let me know the stable release for 3750 . I am looking for a ipservice image.

Hi Sreekanth,

It is pretty likely that the error messages are because of a cosmetic bug documented at http://tools.cisco.com/Support/BugToolKit/search/getBugDetails.do?method=fetchBugDetails&bugId=CSCsg93413

This bug has been fixed in IOS version 12.2(37)SE and later.

12.2.55-SE1 the latest IOS version available for 3750 platform which contains maximum number of bug fixes, and is stable.

Cheers,

Shashank

Hi,

You are most likely hitting a software defect with id CSCsg93413.

PSECURE: Assert failure: 0: ../switch/psecure/psecure_ifc.c: 291: psecur

In certain cases, a cisco device may display a message such as the following shortly after the boot process completes:
PSECURE: Assert failure: 0: ../switch/psecure/psecure_ifc.c: 291: psecure_get_vlanid
This message may be accompanied by tracebacks.

There is no known workaround.

Please refer to the Bug Toolkit page for more information about this defect on the following link:

http://tools.cisco.com/Support/BugToolKit/search/getBugDetails.do?method=fetchBugDetails&bugId=CSCsg93413

This has been fixed in 12.2(37)SE, however I would recommend you to upgrade to the latest IOS version which is 12.2(55)SE1 for 3750 switches.

Best regards,

Andras
