Hello,

I'm interested if someone tested on 3750-24/48TS and 3750G-24TS to remove the fan to make the switch more silent. I'm not interested in replies telling that is risky, I'm interested to know if someone tried this and how is the switch acting. Has shutdown at overheating? I will use the switches only for my CCIE studies, a couple of hours per day, no heavy load ...

I tested with 2950 switches are there were absolutelly no problems, the devices were even in production.

Regards,

Adrian.

What maintanance have you done to the fan flywheel?

The biggest cause of noise are the bearings and the compacted dusts which have clung to the flywheel.  If you take a can of compressed air and clean the leading edge plus spray the bearings a few amount of WD40 then you should be OK.

If you really want to quiet it down further, put some sound insulation under and around it, but not restricting air circulation.

It also helps to put the switch in a cool to dark place.

If you do plan to remove the fans, then I hope you ordered burger because you WILL get fries soon.
