SWITCH-1:

 NAME: "GigabitEthernet1/1/1", DESCR: "1000BaseSX SFP"

PID: GLC-SX-MMD          , VID: V01  , SN: OPM20370J9X

 Model number                    : WS-C3750X-24P-L

SWITCH-2:

PS1-3-Switch#sh int gig1/1/1

Auto-duplex, Auto-speed, link type is force-up, media type is Not Present

Model number                    : WS-C3750X-48P-L

SWITCH-2 interface Gi1/1/1 is not detecting the SFP - Although SWITCH-1 can detect it (I tried the same SFP in both switches and multiple interfaces). The switches are running the same code and they are in the same family. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this problem? The SFP is Cisco and the part number is: GLC-SX-MMD

Hello mediaos718,

It looks like there are some restrictions in regards to this network module and how it handles 1G / 10G SFP combinations. Please check this link and let me know if this information helps. (Link)

Hi there,
Try "shut" command on the interface not recognising the sfp, Then type the command "no shut", insert the SFP again and hopefully it will work for you.
Please keep your eyes on the console out so you can pick any error messages, etc, at the time you insert the sfp.
Cheers,
Ben

I tried to shutdown the interface multiple times - No luck. No message on
the console or the log.

I also run the following commands:

Service unsupported-transceiver

No err disable detect cause gbic-invalid

no luck so far.

Hi there again,
If you can reload your switches will be good.
Lots of times it does the trick.

regards,

Ben

I rebooted it twice - It did not work

Could be a bug.
Post the complete output to the command "sh idprom interface Gi 1/1/1".

LA-Main-3-Switch#sh idprom interface Gi 1/1/1
%No module is present

I am using a "C3KX-NM-10G " Can I use all 4 slots at the same time? I am currently using the 2 slots for 2 Ten Gig uplinks (It is working). Now I am trying to use the 2 remaining slots for 1-Gig uplinks.

Hello again,
You have to follow the specs of the "C3KX-NM-10G "module, as per Table 1, and there will be no issues.
2 x 1GB ONLY, 2 X MIX OF 1GB & 10GB. Slots are Marked Clearly.

Supported combinations of SFP and SFP+ modules:

•Slots 1, 2, 3, and 4 with 1-Gigabit SFP modules
•Slots 1 and 2 with 1-Gigabit SFP modules and Slot 4 with one 10-Gigabit SFP+ module
•Slot 2 with one 10-Gigabit SFP+ module and Slots 3 and 4 with 1-Gigabit SFP modules
•Slot 2 and Slot 4 each with 10-Gigabit SFP+ modules

Ben
