3750 Stacking

We are thinking about utilizing the 3750's stacking option.

My question is, what is the maximum number of switches you can have in the stack?

Hi,

you can stack up to 9 C3750s together:

Cisco StackWise stacking creates a 32-Gbps switch interconnection. Stacking does not require user ports. Up to 9 units can be stacked together for a maximum of 468 10/100 ports, 468 10/100/1000 ports, 108 optical aggregation ports, nine 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports, or any mix thereof.

Hi,

upto 9 switches can be stacked.

Here is the link as you will need to link the 1st switch to the 9th switch, the longest cable will need to be ordered.

As the other posters have indicated, you can stack up to 9 units. You can also intermix the original 3270 and 3270-E series in the same stack.

As also noted by Dario, the stack ring provides "32 Gbps", but my understanding it's dual 8 Gbps, duplex. Also, it's unclear whether both are used independently or all data is duplicated across both paths. (I suspect the latter.)

Cisco has documented major improvements in the 3750-E's StackWise+ (NB: BTW improvements lost if used mixed series stack), which show the original StackWise, I think, weak for heavy traffic load.

PS:

It helps, I think, to consider a large stack of 3750s where you might deploy a 6509/6513 with dual sup32s.

In my experience, if you want to stack MORE THAN 7 2975/3750/3750-E, I agree with Joseph's recommendation and get a 6509.
