3750X VRF-Lite

aamercado

Running 3750X with IP BASE. Anyways, I know I would probably need to go to IP Services but has anyone use VRF.

Ques:

1. How many VRF can I have? I assume 2

2. Anyone have sample configs as I want to run VRF in an inside cloud environment. I am new on this so detailed answer would be appreciate.

Thanks

Hello,

The document bellow should help configuring VRF:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/docs/switches/lan/catalyst3750x_3560x/software/release/12.2_58_se/configuration/guide/swiprout.html

Basicaly:

- Ip Services Needed indeed

- Did not find exact number supported but seems that more than to (as per document above):

The switch supports multiple VPN routing/forwarding (multi-VRF) instances in customer edge (CE) devices (multi-VRF CE) when the it is running the IP services or advanced IP services feature set. Multi-VRF CE allows a service provider to support two or more VPNs with overlapping IP addresses.

- Config samples also can be viewed by that link.

Hope this helps.

I do believe that the 3750X supports up to 16 vrf's.

I run a couple of 3560X's with ip services and they support 16 vrf's, think its the same for 3750X's allso.

vrf's are great and simple to configure. Basically you do the same config as you would normally do for one routing instance only you do it under a vrf instance instead

The maximum supported number of vrfs for the 3750 is 26.

HTH

where to find this numbers ..26 vrfs max .. in any documentation?

I would have the same question for the new 3850?

And a related Question would be how many OSPF processes are supported on 3750-x and 3850, that means in how many of the maximum supported vrfs we can run OSPF?

Thx

Hubert

Hubert,

I have tried this both on the 3750 and 3850 series and the max is 26.

In my expierience if it is possible to configure it , it is not sure that its officially supported, :-)

Do you also have an idea about the maximum numbers of OSPF-processes?

thx

Hubert

For OSPF, the max is 30 on a 3850.

Thx where to find this number in the Documentaion?

I think it also depends on how many neighbors in every process, how many routers in the area(s) of every process, and of course the sum of router ( for this they published the numbers on max ipv4 routes)

thx

Hubert

Hello Reza,

Can you tell me if you try to create this vrf in a switch 3750 or 3750x?....Because the question is about 3750x.

Thanks.
