3850-12S transceiver not showing in inventory

Hi,

Trying to insert a GLC-LH-SMD transceiver into our 3850-12S, could not get the interface to come up and after troubleshooting, I saw that the transceiver was not showing when I did a 'sh inv', moved it to the next port and same result.  3rd port on and the interface came up.  Tested the rest of the ports and they are fine.

So, I seem to have 2 ports that, when a transceiver is inserted do not show the transceiver when doing a 'sh inv'

Running an  'sh idprom' on the 2 interfaces when the transceivers are inserted I do see details as per below:

General SFP Information
-----------------------------------------------
Identifier : 0x03
Connector : 0x07
Transceiver : 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x02 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00
Encoding : 0x01
BR_Nominal : 0x0D
Vendor Name : CISCO
Vendor Part Number : SFCT-5716PZ
Vendor Revision : 0x30 0x30 0x31 0x20
Vendor Serial Number : <removed>
-----------------------------------------------

Other Information
-------------------------------------------------------
Chk for link status : 00
Flow control Receive : Off
Flow control Send : Off
Administrative Speed : 1000
Administrative Duplex : full
Operational Speed : auto
Operational Duplex : auto

Any reasons why I would not be able to see them in the inventory when they are inserted in these 2 ports?

Thanks

Hi,

It maybe that the switch has 2 bad ports.  You can try loading a different version of IOS to eliminate any software bugs.  If that does not help, you probably need to RMA the switch.
