I have a 3850-48XS switch that is currently in Install Mode and it everytime the switch is rebooted it comes up to
the switch: mode and I have to enter the boot command to boot the IOS image. Do I need to convert the switch to Bundle Mode and download a .bin IOS image so the switch boots to the # prompt? Right now the boot variable is boot system flash: packages.conf. I appreciate any feedback/assistance.

Hi @johnmike,
Your register when restarting is 0x102 and the appropriate register is 0x2102
If it is a register problem, check this link:

Change your switch's confreg value to 0x2102, save it and reload again to check

Next problem. The switch has boot up in Bundle Mode. While running 16.3.7.
Please convert to Install Mode because there will be some functional limitation when the switch operates in Bundle Mode.

Installed Boot Mode
You can boot your switch in installed mode by booting the software package provisioning file that resides in
flash.
switch: boot flash:packages.conf
The provisioning file contains a list of software packages to boot, mount, and run.
Bundle Boot Mode
You can boot your switch in bundle boot mode by booting the bundle (.bin) file:
switch:
boot flash:cat3850-universalk9.SSA.03.08.83.EMD.150-8.83.EMD.bin
The provisioning file contained in a bundle is used to decide which packages to boot, mount, and run. Packages
are extracted from the bundle and copied to RAM. The ISO file system in each package is mounted to the
root file system. Unlike install boot mode, additional memory that is equivalent to the size of the bundle is used when booting
in bundle mode.
