hi,
Having problem booting 3850 switch, trying to load IOS from switch: prompt. says flash: file system is read-only. how can i load IOS on this.
This switch was part of the stack of 4.
Pls. help

Hello,
You can do a Hard Update from the rommon mode taking the file from a TFTP server, you have to use the following commands:
rommon 3 > set PS1=rommon ! > IP_ADDRESS=172.18.16.76 (the ip you want to configure on your switch to reach the tftp) IP_SUBNET_MASK=255.255.255.192 DEFAULT_GATEWAY=172.18.16.65 (If you connect the TFTP direct to the switch so you have to write here the TFTP ip) TFTP_SERVER=172.18.16.2 (tftp ip address) TFTP_FILE=quake/rel22_Jan_16/c2600-i-mz (IOS name)
Take into acount that all the configuration will be lost.

above is the output of set. flash is giving read only file system. how can we make it read write file system

Ok, try to recover the switch using this command:
switch: emergency-install tftp://192.168.1.2/cat3k_caa-universalk9.SPA.03.06.05.E.152-2.E5.bin

Hi,
at the beginning tried emergency-install but still not loading the IOS. seems flash is set to read only mode. unable to format also.
