3850 vs 1941/K9 router

Hi,

I'm trying to  decide whether to replace   1941/K9 router with Layer 3 3850 switch. I am very familiar with 3850 but do not know much about 1941/K9. Currently some sites of mine are running 1941/K9 routers. I was thinking of replacing 1941/K9 routers with 3850 layer 3(ip routing enable - VLAN SVI - OSPF - Static Route). Would that be possible to do and what will I gain/loss if I am to replace all 1941/K9 with 3850? I was told it can be done but I wanted to see if anyone here can give me feedback/suggestion.

Thank you,

Vincent

Without knowing all what your routers are doing today, cannot say whether is 3850 is a suitable replacement.

In general a router has many more features than a L3 switch, but a L3 switch generally has much, much more throughput capacity than a software based router.
