4500 switch question

Good Morning

We have a couple of 4500 switches that are being removed. Thery are no longer connected to the network and I am trying to get into them. Just get the user mode prompt and when I try to log in with password I set it doesnt work. Do I need to do some kind of password recovery for the 4500? I just want to log in so I can wipe it.

Hi,

It is possible that the switches were connected to TACACS server and now that they are not online you can't access them, however if there is no way to authenticate, you can simply do a password recovery and get to them that way.

Thanks so much, will try this.

Oh and yes they are not connected to the netwok but I can connect the fiber back to it and log in via TACACS. I actualy tried that and added a password to it so that I can get to it when unplugged. I wish I could just wr erase and reload while online via TACACS. Dont know if I can do that. Or at least add a password to get to it via console cable so I can wipe and erase it then remove it. Again thanks for your help.

I was able to get in via console using TACACS. My laptop was connected to network when I completed it.
