4506-E "LLDP physical intf info not updated - information request failed"

Hi everybody maybe you already had the same problem.

I have the following configuration in Lab and it's not working with 4506-E. I'm trying it with a Third party Alcatel Lucent ip Phone.

On 3560 it works perfectly but not with 4506.

The Only Problem which i see in debug lldp  is the Error Message is:

"LLDP physical intf info not updated - information request failed"

I the sniffer Trace i see the difference of the MAC/PHY field that the 4500 is offering 1000 half duplex and than LX and SX capabilties of the SUP6E. The 3560 do not have any of those so it's offering 100 and 10 half/full. After the switch offered the voice vlan information the ip phone still sends inside access vlan the request. it will than loop again the same procedure.

The 3560 had some changes since 12.2(50)SE that the voice and data vlan will be in a seperate network Policy information field in the LLDP Packet. Before 12.2(50) there is only 1 network policy field with the voice vlan only.

CATALYST 4506-E             IOS 12.2(53)SG1 (tested also with 12.2(46)SG and 12.2(53)SG2)    IPBase K9

ALU iptouch 4068            Binary 4.2.70 (tested also with 4.2.52)

CATALYST 3560-E        IOS 12.2(46)SE and 12.2(53)SE1

ALU iptouch 4068            Binary 4.2.70 (tested also with 4.2.52)

Switchconfig:

Vlan 10

Name DATA

!

Vlan 20

Name VOICE

!

interface GigabitEthernet2/48

switchport access vlan 10

switchport mode access

switchport voice vlan 20

no cdp enable

spanning-tree portfast

!

interface VLAN 10

ip address 10.10.10.1 255.255.255.0

!

Interface VLAN 20

Ip address 10.10.20.1 255.255.255.0

!

4506 sends same information like 3560 switch but with any of the phone loads the iptouch does not recognise the information.

Mabye anybody had already made some experiences with that and halp me out.

Thx and Cheers

Minh
