Without realizing that the ROMMON version on the platform is older (15.0(1r)SG5) then the minimum required 15.0(1r) SG7 for VSS, I converted the switch running IOS 3.4.0 SG to VSS. It took the commands and reloaded and went straight into ROMMON mode. My mistake, fortunately its not production yet and I will continue on it tomorrow. Should I upgrade ROMMON from with in ROMMON mode by downloading it via tftp or is there a way to clear VSS from within ROMMON and let the switch start in standalone mode. Tried doing "> boot <image>", still drops into ROMMON. The boot up messages suggest doing a "clear VS_SWITCH_NUMBER rommon variable to boot switch in standalone mode", but there is not command like "clear 1" for this switch.
