4510R-E with Sup8 and WS-X4548-RJ45V+ ??

We have a bunch of 4510R-E running sup Vs with WS-X4548-RJ45V+ blades in them.  We are upgrading the sups to sup8's.  First obstacle was the ios.  Sup8's need ios 3.7 to run in a 4510R-E.  Now the sups come up in the chassis, but all the 4548 blades come up as unsupported, even though documentation says the are compatible.

Thoughts?

I haven't used these modules but i just checked the release notes and they are not listed as supported hardware with 3.7XE.

They are supported with 3.6XE according to the documentation.

Are you saying only 3.7XE supports that supervisor in your chassis ?

Here is a link to the release notes -

Therein lies the problem.  According to this doc (http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/switches/catalyst-4500-series-switches/models-comparison.html)  sup8's in a 4507R-E or 4510R-E are on the road map.  Per our SE, he said 3.7 was the solution, and so it appears (pre 3.7 ios, we get unsupported supervisor).  With 3.7 loaded, the sups come up, but now the 4548 blades won't.

I have a TAC case opened up, but i fear I'm caught in a catch-22 here with these older blades.

Yes, unfortunately i think you are and TAC won't be able to do anything other than tell you they are not supported.

Just checked the release notes again and i see what you mean.

3.6XE supports E and R+E whereas 3.7 supports those and your chassis.

But it doesn't look like it supports your modules.

Could be a typo ie. those modules are missing but there are a few other WS-X4548 modules not included and the release notes are usually pretty accurate.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Topic starter, did your 4510R-E work with SUP8? What IOS XE release is?
