Hi

I've been asked by BT if my current infrastructure can support a VoIP installation. Specifically I need to know if my 6009 and 3548xl switches support 802.1p and are capable of classifying data based on diffserv code points and IP COS/TOS fields. They must be able to prioritise traffic based on QOS markings (COS & DSCP), IP address or UPD and TCP port numbers. They also need to support multiple Vlan and 802.1q trunking.

Hi,

Both the products mentioned by you does support QOS classification based on 802.1p tag.

3500 series have some limitations.

Look at the faq page for what is possible/not possible on QOS for 3500 series switches.

In 6500/6000 series switches, you have full qos capabilities as requested in your post.
