6509 Chassis

We have a 6509 Chassis (WS-C6509) with Sup720

Questions below

Is this hardware (Chassis) supported or is end of life ?

I have used the link below but they mention 6509 and not WS-C6509 just wanted to double check if the meant the same ?

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps708/prod_models_comparison.html

We have used this hardware for the last 7 years are they any know issues with the hardware or is it good practice to the move to the latest Chassis to avoid suprises ?

The -E chassis comes with standard with the high speed fans to allow sup720s to be installed (earlier chassis can be upgraded).

The -E chassis also provides 80 Gbps per slot for the sup2t.

They are the same thing..

WS-C6509 is the part number for the chassis.

Sup 720 is a few years old.  The newest Sup module is Sup-2T

Thanks for your swift response

Are they any know problem with the physical Chasis WS-C6509 with the black plain etc ?

Any Advantages for us to migrate to 6509-E Chassis ?

It depends what you are trying to do.  What features you want to add and use.

Have a look at this link.  It does a good comparisom of different sup modules and what they support:
