Does anyone what is the latency on the 6509 from the time a packet enter a switch to when it is delivered assuming all layer 2? Attached are the modules:

i am currently reading http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/switches/ps5718/ps708/product_data_sheet0900aecd8017376e_ps2797_Products_Data_Sheet.html

but don't see anything re latency.

Hello Etienne,

latency of a LAN switch is usually so small in comparison to that of wan links and of routers.

lan switches historically used store and forward but nowdays after receiving first 64 bytes on input the frame starts to be transmitted on output port.

(CRC errors have become a rare event)

Hope to help

Giuseppe
