6509 running in VSS upgrade issue - GOLD EEM TCL policy

Hello Guys,

I've upgraded a 6509 switches wich are running in  VSS, from IOS 12.2 (33)SHI1 to 12.2 (33)SHI5. After that I'm facing the folowing log messages periodically.

001868: Feb 15 09:21:51.641 GMT-2: %CONST_DIAG-SW1_SPSTBY-3-HM_PORT_TEST_FAIL: Switch 1 Module 6 TestUnusedPortLoopback Port(s)[24] failed. System operation continues.

I know that this is a diagnostic result from TestUnusedPortLoopback feature. But this interface is disabled (shutdown). I didn't found any bug refered to this situation.

Paulo,

First, I am not aware of any software defects.

As test name suggests, GOLD will test unused ports at regular interval.

Are you seeing this error reported only for 1/6/24, or some other ports also ?

If it is only for 1/6/24, then is it the first unused port in that module ?

Please let me know the results, if module re-seat has been done earlier.

That's right! The error report refered only to 1/6/24 interface. And shuting/no shuting stoped the messages.

I am also facing the same logs, is there any reason why GOLD test is failing for unused port ?

Hello Akhtar,

Is this seen in VSS setup or Standalone Cat6500 switch ?

Did you notice this error immediately after Sup failover ? or under steady-state operation condition ?

Please let me know the IOS version the cat6500 switch is running.

Hi Yogesh,

Its standalone setup and there has been no Sup failover. The IOS running is 12.2.33(SXH2a).
