6800-IA upgrade loop with 6880-X 15.2(1)SY0a

 After upgrading 6880-X to Version 15.2(1)SY0a our 6800IA clients running into download loop by requesting an image update process that seems to be not necessary because the version stored at 6880-X and the 6800-IA modules are identical 15.2(3)E .

What is to do to get the FEX-stack working again? Must I downgrade to 15.2(1)SY?

Hi,

I believe that there is a slight difference in the image. The 15.2(1)SY was deferred when we published 15.2(1)SY0a; SY0a comes with a different bundled image (the 'a' version of 15.2(3)E for the IA clients). Because of this, the IA clients need to download the new image.

Now, let's come to why the IA clients are unable to download it.

Can you get the following outputs please:

1. show run | in tftp

2. show ip int br | in 192.1.1

Thank you for the outputs. You have a source interface defined for your TFTP (which is outside the scope of the IA clients); this is why the download is most likely failing. I'd like you to first verify that the FEX internal VLAN interface is up/up on the FEX (login to the FEX, make sure that the state for interface VLAN 1013 is up/up) and after that either remove the configuration line 'ip tftp source-interface vlan91' or remove that line and add 'ip tftp source-interface vlan1013'.

After this, please attempt another install of the FEX and let me know how that goes.

Edit: The IA client is actually out of the scope of the parent (and not the other way around) with a TFTP source-interface pointing to anything other than the FEX internal VLAN interface.
