Hi,

Not every flash drive works with Cisco switches. You just have to try several ones to find the right kind. You can also use the copper OOB port (1/100/1000) on the sup and load the software that way. This is probably easier than looking for different flashcards to find the right match.

software to access the port. The port supports Cisco USB flash drives with capacities from 128 MB to 8 GB (USB devices with port densities of 128 MB, 256 MB, 1 GB, 4 GB, and 8 GB are supported). Cisco IOS software provides standard file system access to the flash device: read, write, erase, and copy. The software also provides the ability to format the flash device with a FAT file system (FAT32 and FAT16).

1. Format the USB with FAT32  format

2. Copy the IOS image you like to boot the Supervisor

3. Connent the USB, and Power on the Device

4. ROMMON >  dev (it will show you the USB name)

5. dir usb: ( check USB detected and has IOS or change the name as per the dev output)

6. once it confirmed >boot usb:image.bin ( replace image.bin with acuratename)

Once boot successfully, check the image in flash by issue dir command.

copy the image from USB to Flash

change the boot variable

wr

reload and test and advise

if any issue connect the console cable and post complete output to undestand the issue.
