6840-X Management 0 Interface Configuration Guide

Hi Can Anyone Direct me to a configuration guide for a 6840-X-LE-40G?  All i can seem to find is a Config guide for the SUP2T management interfaces and that doesn't appear to be the same for the 6840 fixed series.  We are trying to set up the Mgmt 0 interface.

Thanks.

Hi,

Even though the chassis is fixed, the sup that is running inside the device is still sup-2T. So, most likely the mgmt interface is part of the supervisor.

So, just logon to the device and configure the OOB (out-of-band) mgmt port if there is one.

We tried following the SUP2T document and the commands aren't supported in the 6840-X.

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/catalyst6500/cmp_configuration/guide/sup2T_10GEcmp/cmp_configuring.html#wp1051544

More specifically these commands do no work on the 6840-X.

Configuring the CMP-MGMT Interface
You must configure the CMP-MGMT interface before you can connect to the CMP through a SSH or Telnet session. The switch is shipped with the CMP network interface set to a default configuration.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN
Ensure that you are logged in to the CMP before configuring the default gateway and IP address.

SUMMARY STEPS
1. configure terminal

2. interface cmpmgmt

3. ip default gateway ipv4-address

4. ip address ipv4-address/length

5. end

6. show running-config
