9300 stacking

Hi Team.

We are trying to stack two new 9300 switches, when we connect switches in stack, we see following message on console, after this we lose the console access and it get stuck at this point.

: %RF-5-RF_TERMINAL_STATE: Terminal state reached for (SSO)

Need guidance to make this stack up and working.

Were the two switches powered on when the stacking cables were connected?

yes, stacking cable are connected and switches are power on.

The 2nd switch is meant to be POWERED OFF when the stacking cable is connected.
Failure to do so will cause the entire stack to reboot and do a stack election -- as designed.

we have done the following things but still things are same.

1. Power off both switch.

2. connected stack cable to both switch.

3. power on first switch.

4. power on second switch after 40 seconds.

After following message, it get stuck and nothing happens, waited for 15 min but still same.

%RF-5-RF_TERMINAL_STATE: Terminal state reached for (SSO)

Kindly find the attached putty log file on switch-1

Is the serial port settings correct?

yes, serial port is correct so we are getting log.

did we need to get any licensing part to get this stack working.

License not required to get stacking to work.
Does your console work if you move to the other switch? Maybe you're consoled into the secondary unit?

As per your guidance now we connected console on both switch two different laptop, after last line on the log it get stuck and unable to do anything.

Kindly find the putty log for both switch.

can we access switch on console after stack is established or need any additional configuration to get console.

What is the settings of your console?

serial port config is

speed 9600

parity n

Data bit 8

stop bit 1

Xon/Xoff

The problem was solved, it was console port setting problem, so after booting it loose console access.

we have to use serial port flow control NON, by default it is XON/XOFF.
