Hi Guys,
We are in the middle of a migration to the new core (9500) with VSL. We are just doing some redundancy tests and we would like to know if it is possible to always have switch 1 active as it recovers, like 9300 do with the stack.
So we have:
switch 1 prio 15
switch 2 prio 1
After we powered down (as in a power failure) the switch 1, switch 2 is taking over which is fine.
If we boot switch 1 back-up it doesn't do a fail-over back to switch 1 (but switch 1 has a higher priority).
Is it possible to automaticly go back to switch 1 with a higher priority? Like preemption?
I couldn't find this easily in the documents.

Does anybody have another method to force switch 1 as active if the power is ok and switch is ok?
There is no auto switch over - you need to force switch over if you like switch 1 to be active in SVL.
Suggested above you mentioned that standby device active now - you like to switch back to original position.

No that is not possible, until both device reboots.
even Cat 9300 Master fails standby become master - and once aster returns it stay as member not become master.

Think i found it:
Recovery Actions
A Cisco StackWise Virtual active switch that detects a dual-active condition shuts down all of its non-SVL or non-DAD interfaces to remove itself from the network. The switch then waits in recovery mode until the SVLs recover. You should physically repair the SVL failure and the switch automatically reloads and restores itself as the standby switch. To enable the switch to remain in recovery mode after restoring the SVL links, see Disabling Recovery Reload section.

Hi,
From the StackWise Virtual white paper:
StackWise Virtual does not support preemption capability to avoid unnecessary traffic disruption. If you need to change the StackWise Virtual role to another switch, the “redundancy force-switchover” command can be used for that purpose. This will move the active role to the other switch with very minimal traffic disruption.
