ACE 20 | Process of replacing Primary Unit

Dear Freinds of Cisco family

I will be  replacing my primary ACE blade and am wondering if when I reconfigure the admin context and insert the blade in the chasis , with the ft groups and vlans . Is there any risk for the newly inserted  primary blade  push Blank config to my current active (secondary Mate) .

Pls guide me step by step how to acheive this so that i do not run into any problem of blank config as i did not found any doc on this  .

Note i have preempt enabled in all my context and auto sync also enabled in all context

Pls guide me what all basic config i need to do whch will be sufficient for the unit to download full config from active secendary mate

Hi Shirshendu,

Make sure you make a backup copy of all your ACE configuration for the all
the context before doing any replacement.  Also, make sure that the current
primary ACE module has all the updated configuration

- Here are some documentation on how to replace the ACE module in the
switch:
1. Preparing to install/remove module -
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/docs/interfaces_modules/services_modules/
ace/installation/note/aceinote.html#wp51611
2. Remove the ACE module -
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/docs/interfaces_modules/services_modules/
ace/installation/note/aceinote.html#wp42206
3. Install the new ACE module -
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/docs/interfaces_modules/services_modules/
ace/installation/note/aceinote.html#wp42094

- Once the new ACE module is installed, setup the ACE according to the link
below and load the same software version as that of the primary ACE:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/docs/interfaces_modules/services_modules/
ace/v3.00_A1/configuration/administration/guide/basiccfg.html
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/docs/interfaces_modules/services_modules/
ace/v3.00_A1/configuration/administration/guide/upgrade.html

- Configure the redundancy on the new ACE and synchronize the configuration:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/docs/interfaces_modules/services_modules/
ace/v3.00_A1/configuration/administration/guide/redundcy.html
