an old switch introduced to a new network

Hi,

I want to clarify one point, if a already configured switch which higher vtp revision number but different domain is connected to existing network.

Is there any chance that it will overwrite the vtp database on all switches?

As per my understanding, it should not but want to take other's experience.

You shouldn't run into any problems if the switch has a different domain name.  VTP only communicates with other switches within the same domain.  In fact, one way to reset the revision number of a switch within a network is to change the domain name to some arbitrary name so it drops the domain and then change the domain name back so that it rejoins the domain with a fresh value.

IT shouldnt....

IF any doubt move it to a transparent mode, and then back to server or say client. It will set the revision back to zero.

Hello,

As long as the new switch has a different VTP domain and you have set up pasword for the domain, then it should not affect rest of the network.
