Any caveats with regards to replacing switch stack with different hardware and software versions?

Hello,

I am replacing an existing switch stack as the switches are end of life and I need more port capacity

Switch Ports Model              SW Version            SW Image
------ ----- -----              ----------            ----------
*    1 28    WS-C3750G-24TS     12.2(44)SE2           C3750-IPBASEK9-M
     2 28    WS-C3750G-24TS-1U  12.2(44)SE2           C3750-IPBASEK9-M

with a new switch stack

Switch Ports Model              SW Version            SW Image
------ ----- -----              ----------            ----------
     1 30    WS-C3750X-24       12.2(58)SE2           C3750E-UNIVERSALK9-M
*    2 30    WS-C3750X-24       12.2(58)SE2           C3750E-UNIVERSALK9-M
     3 30    WS-C3750X-24       12.2(58)SE2           C3750E-UNIVERSALK9-M

the new switch stack has an IPBASE license installed.

Are there any caveats around taking the configuration on the existing switch stack and copying to the new switch stack as the hardware, SW Version and SW image are different?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

From 12.2(44) to 12.2(58), there's a good chance the latter can digest the config of the former, although after it's done so, if you compare them, you're likely see some differences (beyond the additional ports provided by the third stack member).

BTW, unless you need (58) features, I would suggest using (55)SE9.

Thanks for replying. Is the reason you suggest using (55)SE9 due stability of the IOS? Are there issues with (58). These are new switches are were shipped with the (58) IOS.

Yes, as you suspect, recommending (55)SE9 because it appears to be a very stable/solid release.
