AP1562I AP keeps disabling radios Using 3850UPOE

andrew_cooper

Level 1

Hello,  I have a AIR-AP1562I-B-K9 that keeps turning the radio off and I believe it is power related but not sure why.  I am using a 3850 UPOE switch with 60w power capability.

sh power inline on the switch shows the AP pulling 39.1 watts.

Bouncing the port will bring reboot the AP and it will come back online, radios on, etc.  But it will disable the radios again usually within an hour or so.

From the WLC I am seeing the below

Attributes for Slot 0
Radio Type................................... RADIO_TYPE_80211n-2.4
Administrative State ........................ ADMIN_ENABLED
Operation State ............................. DOWN
Operation State Down Cause................... Radio reset due to (41) inline CDP low power mode holddown
Operation State Down Code.................... RADIO_RC_EXIT_LOW_PWR
Mesh Radio Role ............................. ACCESS
Radio Role .................................. Client Serving (Local)
CellId ...................................... 0

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Thanks for the reply!  I have tried both "power inline static max 40000" as well as "power inline static max 50000".  Issue re-occurred both times.  I've also tried "power inline port 2x-mode" as well as disabled one of the radios so that only one is admin enabled.  Issue still occurs.  Any other suggestions?

Thanks,

Post the complete output to the AP command "sh version".

Thanks for your help,

The last thing I tried was statically configuring the port for 60w and admin disabling one of the radios to try to conserve power.  Same issue.  Here is the show power inline detail for the switchport

Uhhhh ... what?

Can you post the complete output to the following 3850 commands:

@Leo Laohoo any further thoughts / suggestions?  Issue still occuring.  Radio's won't stay up for more than an hour.

Thanks

Is this only happening to ONE (1) AP? What about the others (connected to the same switch)?

Unfortunately I don't have any spare 1562I to test.  The other APs on this switch are 3502i and 3502e and they operate fine.  I guess I'm going to gave to go take this AP down and take it inside to a 9410 chassis that I know it should work with and see if the problem goes away.

I will add that I've already replaced the switch.  When I first deployed this temporary site I used a 2960x PoE+ switch.  After noticing the radios were being disabled I noticed in the WLC the AP was being marked "medium power".  Then when looking at the spec sheets I saw that recommended power was UPOE and that at PoE+ it would automatically change to 2x2 instead of 3x3.  Well since I was experiencing the radios completely disabling I figured it was a power issue and I swapped out to the 3850UPOE and I'm having the same issue.

I am out of ideas.
But moving the AP to the 9K would be my next suggestion.

 - Is there anything in the switch logs too when this happen (issue show logging - when the radios go down).

Thank's for replying.  No there are no switch log messages at all regarding the port.  The port still shows up, power being drawn, AP will ping, but radios are disabled.
