Hi,
from one of my router (ASR 903) i am trying to ping the switch which is connected below the router with the same network segment but not success even though could able to find the ARP entry in router(ASR 903). what could be the problem?

Hi
Is the switch directly connected to the ASR and both has the same network segment? you could clear the arp table, but do you have any ACL under a interface? Have you verified physically the cables or ports?

Can you verify that the MAC address shown in the arp entry is the correct MAC of the switch interface?
In general when you find an arp entry it demonstrates that you have successful layer 2 connectivity with the connected device. If you have successful layer 2 connectivity (the MAC is the correct MAC of the device) but ping does not succeed then I agree with Julio that the likely issue is a security policy that is preventing the ping.

Hi Richard,
Thanks for your input, but the ARP learning mac is correct. and also i have not configured the security policy under the interface.

Was this ever resolved? I am having a similar issue.

Can you provide some details about your environment that might help us understand your issue? What device are you pinging from? What are you trying to ping? What is the network topology? What are the device configurations?

Hi Julio,
No, the switch is not directly connected to ASR but both the device in the same network segment with the same vlan.
I have cleared the ARP table then also ARP is learning.
I dont have any acl under this interface
physical connectivity is fine because the switch is reachable from some other device in the same segment.
