The Cisco Catalyst 2960-X models provide Layer 2 switching and have one fixed power supply with an external redundant power supply. They provide 24 or 48 Gigabit Ethernet wire rate ports, PoE/PoE+ support, and four 1G Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) or two 10G SFP+ uplinks. With FlexStack-Plus technology, the Cisco Catalyst 2960-X switches can be stacked up to 8 members with up to 80 Gbps stacking capacity for high scalability. During this presentations, Roopa R. will talk about the architecture and stacking of the Cisco Catalyst 2960-X and 2960-XR Series Switches. She will also cover packet walk through, overview, configuration and troubleshooting of various features on these switches like QOS, Security, Netflow, PnP etc.

Hello. I have a quick question.

- Jessica

16K mac address is supported in 2960x

Jessica, it also depends upon the SDM template chosen. As Prabha mentioned 16K is the max and this is with the lanbase-default template. Take a look at the link below for details on the SDM template and the number of MAC addresses etc that each one supports.

Hello,

I was upgrading the firmware of one of our 2960-X Switches to c2960x-universalk9-tar.152-2.E3. When the firmware was updated the switch rebooted and was coming up with "BOOT FAIL".

I am not able to get to ROMmon. It has no reaction if I press the Mode button at start or trying to send a break in Terminal (HyperTerm and Putty), also a CTRL+C, CTRL+Break or any other key combinations are not helping.

BTW: The Switch is not a stack-member

Hello,

Can you share the PID of the switch you are trying to boot?

Regards,

Roopa

Not at the moment. I don't have physical access to it until Tuesday.

Can you also share the entire boot process log when you try it the next time. I only see the BOOT FAIL logs in the attached JPG.

Regards,

Roopa

What you see is the entire boot process log. It only sends BOOT FAIL, nothing else.

I have got the same issue.

Does the 2960-X support:

sdm prefer lanbase routing

This to be able to use the switch as a simple L3 switch like the old 2960 switches.

Hi,

Yes it does support the lanbase routing template similar to the other 2960 switches with support for 16 Static routes for IPV4 and IPV6.

HTH,

Roopa

Thanks Roopa.

Best Regards,

Henk

If I have stacked of four switches and switch one is configured with priority 15 (Master switch), which switch should be configured as back up master (priority 10) as a best practice?

I hope you and your love ones are safe and healthy
