The Cisco Catalyst 2960-X models provide Layer 2 switching and have one fixed power supply with an external redundant power supply. They provide 24 or 48 Gigabit Ethernet wire rate ports, PoE/PoE+ support, and four 1G Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) or two 10G SFP+ uplinks. With FlexStack-Plus technology, the Cisco Catalyst 2960-X switches can be stacked up to 8 members with up to 80 Gbps stacking capacity for high scalability. During this presentations, Roopa R. will talk about the architecture and stacking of the Cisco Catalyst 2960-X and 2960-XR Series Switches. She will also cover packet walk through, overview, configuration and troubleshooting of various features on these switches like QOS, Security, Netflow, PnP etc.

Hi all,
I would like to request for your assistance to advice me on the switch's firmware upgrade on C2960X-24TS-L/C2960X-48TS-L while I had tried to upgrade from version 15.0(2)EX5 to version 15.2(4)E6 during staging/testing phase. Unfortunately, the switch failed to load after the upgrade of firmware to 15.2(4)E6 with "Boot Fail" error. I had conduct a power cycle as suggested from the Cisco forums and the switch was failed to power on and stop the boot-up process midway which not even boot into rommon mode with the error message below.
Error:-
CPU rev: B
Image passed digital signature verification
Board rev: 5
Testing DataBus...
Testing AddressBus...
Testing Memory from 0x00000000 to 0x1fffffff...\
Kindly need your advice on the firmware upgrade from 15.0(2)EX5 to 15.2(4)E6 which I had read the release notes but did not mentioned any upgrade path/minimum firmware to upgrade.

Hi,
Thank you for your replied while I am wondering that can I direct upgrade from version 15.0(2) EX5 to 15.2(4)E7/E8 because of the differences between EX5 and E7/E8. I also would like to ask for your kind advice on any differences between EX and E for C2960X which I saw both version was supported on this model in datasheet.
Thank you.

Hi,
E is the mainstream release and would have any new features introduced. Yes, you can directly upgrade from EX to E.
Thanks,
Roopa
