Hi Dan,

Thanks for your response.  How about power stacking?  Is it going to remain the same with max of 4 switches just like the 3750X series or will it change?

Reza

Hi- yes, the limitation of 4 switches in a StackPower configuration remains the same.

Dan

1- The Product has a Wireless LAN Controller built-in that supports Voice & Video over WLAN?

Yes.  The new 3850 will play a pivotal role to the new Unified Access Architechture design for ultra-high speed wireless.  I'm not talking just 802.11n.  I'm talking about 802.11ac wave 1 and wave 2.

2- The Switch has Two redundant Power Supplies and Supervisor Engines?

Yes, two power supplies allowed per unit but there is only one "supervisor engine".  The 3850 also supports StackPower

The Switch is a PoE Capable and the Line Cards Are Gig Speed? and whats the Total Speed Per Line Card that the Sup supports?

The switch can support PoE/PoE+ but NOT uPoE.  If you get the "F" version, each port can push PoE+ to all 48-ports.  Each port can push at line rate (non-blocking).

4- The Switch is Stackable Switch and how many Switches Can be stacked in a cluster?

Current software release restricts up to four (4) 3850 in a single stack.  Future software release will allow the 3850 to stack up to nine (9) units.

Hello,

Will the 3k and 4k ever support MPLS ?? Thought Sup7E for c4k would do MPLS but no :-(

Such a small "feature" but big impact for all us end users

Cheers Martin

Hi- there are always discussions but nothing fully committed yet.

Thanks,

Dan

Any idea when CSCtx60271 will be fixed? I have hit this bug when i first started using the 3ks. No resolution yet.

Hi- the bug you are referring to is a Nexus 3K bug, not a Catalyst 3K one.

Please reach out to the relevant Nexus help forum.

Thanks,

Dan

Hi Mike,

Software defect CSCtx60271 is still not resolved and there is no estimate when it will be fixed.

The issue is considered 'cosmetic' and should not have operational impact on the switch packet forwarding.

Hi Dan, can you confirm me if HSRP (or VRRP) is available in 3850 IOS-XE?   There are documents than tell us that all the functions of IOS are included in IOS-XE, but i heard that there are not commands of HSRP.

If they are not available, which command would replace them for high availability function? (Not stack availability)

Regards

Franks

Hi- HSRP & VRRP will be available in Q3CY13.

Thanks,

Dan

Hi there

Does the 3850, come with 12/24 sfp ports, and more than 2 10G ports ?

Is it possoble to stack a 3850 switch and a 3750 switch ?

Thanks,

Mickey

Is it possoble to stack a 3850 switch and a 3750 switch ?

Not physically possible.  The shape of the two cables are different and therfore incompatible.

Does the 3850, come with 12/24 sfp ports, and more than 2 10G ports ?

Not yet.  You need to contact your Cisco SE and insist him/her to raise a Product Enhancement Request (PER).

Regarding Catalyst 3750 in general, will they ever support NAT. I see the IE-2000 is reported to support NAT in a future release of OS.

Hi- currently there are no plans.
