ASR 1002-F Won't Process Traffic

Jesse Shumaker

Level 1

We recently purchased a refurbished ASR 1002-F running IOSXE

Cisco IOS Software, IOS-XE Software (PPC_LINUX_IOSD-IPBASEK9-M), Version 15.0(1)S3, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

which comes with the built-in route-processor but we are unable to successfully pass traffic of any kind, in or out of it. I brought the configuration down to the most basic element as shown below and pinged a connected laptop w/o success. NO ACL's, the laptop doesn't have a FW. ARP's won't even appear. ip routing is enabled on the ASR. Any help would be appreciated. My thought now is perhaps it's a license issue...?

Here's a ping to the laptop with debug ip packet turned on showing traffic is being generated but there's no receives

Ok.. I see the problem. You do not have ESP or FP card present which takes care of the forwarding. Unless you have the FP card, forwarding will not function.

Please insert the FP card to fix this issue.

Thanks

Can you try removing  negotiation auto and test again?

no nego auto

The basic license you already have should not block you from doing simple functions like ping.

If this does not help, you may want to contact TAC.

From the below outputs, i see that there are no output packet counters incrementing on the interface. Could you please capture the below command outputs:

- show platform

- show plat hardware qfp active statistics drop

- show plat hardware qfp active interface statistics

If the packets are not forwarding out, there can most likely be two problems, issue with the link / SPA card or issue with the FP card.

Thanks

I was suspecting a hardware issue. see output. What are we missing?
